We are not a law firm.

Last updated: 2026-05-03

Read this once.
  • Agentic, Data & Source is a software platform. It is not a law firm. It is not your lawyer.
  • Output from ADS is legal information and research assistance, not legal advice.
  • Using ADS does not create an attorney-client relationship.
  • Communications with ADS are not protected by attorney-client privilege.
  • The four AI personas (PARA, AGENTIC, DATA, SOURCE) are AI legal-research assistants. They are not attorneys. They are not paralegals supervised by attorneys. They are software.

What ADS does

  • Helps you research case law, statutes, and procedural rules
  • Drafts documents from descriptions you provide
  • Walks through procedural how-to questions ("how do I file X in Y state")
  • Holds an audio consultation when you redeem a phone code

What ADS does not do

  • Advise on whether your case has merit
  • Represent you in court
  • Tell you whether to settle, file, or take any specific action
  • Substitute for a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction

Why this matters

Practicing law without a license is a crime in every U.S. state. To stay clearly on the right side of that line — and to protect you from believing the platform is something it isn't — we make these limits explicit, repeatedly. The disclaimer is not a formality. It is the truth.

AI hallucination notice

AI models sometimes fabricate citations — they generate text that looks like a real case but isn't. Lawyers have been sanctioned for filing AI-generated briefs without verifying citations. ADS includes safety measures to reduce this, but you remain responsible for verifying every citation in any document or response before you rely on it for any legal purpose.

Do not file in court anything generated by ADS without verifying every cited case, statute, and rule.

When to consult a real attorney

  • If you have an active litigation matter or are about to start one
  • If you are negotiating an important contract
  • If you are forming a business entity for non-trivial assets
  • If a family-law matter involves minors
  • If a criminal matter is involved
  • If a deadline (statute of limitations, response window) is approaching
  • Honestly: if any of this affects your real life in a real way

Finding a lawyer

If you cannot afford a lawyer, your local Legal Aid office is usually free for income-qualified individuals. Most state bars have a lawyer referral service. Pro bono clinics exist in most large cities. Court self-help centers can answer procedural questions for free.

Founder note

The founder of ADS is litigating his own active federal cases pro se. He built this platform because he needed it himself. Having pro se experience does not make him your lawyer, and using a tool he built does not get you any of the protections of having a lawyer. Treat ADS as research help, not as counsel.

Risk Management product line

ADS offers a separate product line called Risk Management: paid sessions and document scoring designed specifically for self-represented litigants who cannot afford counsel. Three offerings:

  • Ask the Founder ($19, 30 min, small group) — the founder shares his own federal-litigation experience. He answers questions about his cases, not yours.
  • Get Grilled by the Founder ($99, 30 min, 1-on-1) — the founder asks you hard questions about your matter. Coaching format. You make the decisions.
  • Document Risk Score ($79, async) — the AEGIS Engine produces a statistical risk profile on an uploaded court document. No human review. Source PDF auto-deleted within 24 hours.

Risk Management is structured to operate outside the practice of law. Calling it “risk management” does not by itself accomplish that — what does is the structural design of each offering:

  • Founder storytelling is not legal advice. Sharing one's own legal experience and observations has been recognized as protected non-attorney speech since N.Y. County Lawyers' Ass'n v. Dacey, 21 N.Y.2d 694 (1967). Memoirs, podcasts, and books by litigants are not the practice of law.
  • Socratic coaching is not legal advice. Business coaches, life coaches, mediators, and process consultants operate question-driven 1-on-1 sessions for fees without licensure. The conclusions originate with the customer; the founder is a mirror, not an oracle. Educational and coaching speech is constitutionally protected. Holder v. Humanitarian Law Project, 561 U.S. 1 (2010).
  • Software-only document analysis is not legal advice. Document-automation and statistical-scoring software has been litigated and survived nationwide. See Janson v. LegalZoom.com, 802 F. Supp. 2d 1053 (W.D. Mo. 2011); Texas Gov't Code § 81.101(c) (statutory carve-out for legal software).
  • Service for the underserved is constitutionally protected. The strongest authority for trained non-lawyer assistance to litigants who cannot afford counsel is Upsolve, Inc. v. James, 604 F. Supp. 3d 97 (S.D.N.Y. 2022) — a federal court enjoined New York's UPL enforcement against non-lawyer “Justice Advocates” assisting low-income debt-collection defendants, on First Amendment grounds. See also NAACP v. Button, 371 U.S. 415 (1963).
  • Every interaction is documented. Customers scroll and individually check seven separate acknowledgment boxes, e-sign their full legal name, affirm they cannot afford standard attorney rates, and waive UPL claims as a condition of purchase. Office Hours calls are recorded and archived in encrypted long-term storage for up to seven years. Document Score reports carry a disclaimer on every page.
  • No attorney-client relationship. Risk Management does not create privilege. Communications can be subpoenaed. We tell customers this before they pay, on the call, and in every email.

If you have a legal matter requiring representation in court — serious criminal charges, removal proceedings, family-law matters involving minors, complex commercial litigation — please contact your state bar's lawyer-referral service or a legal-aid organization. Risk Management is not the right product for you. Find legal aid via the Legal Services Corporation.
